A320 passengers aircraft are likely to relinquish the leading position in the world in terms of annual deliveries in 2015.

A situation occurring for the first time since the A320 series became a direct competitor to single-aisle Boeing 737 aircraft. Annual deliveries of the A320 series first surpassed those of the 737 in 2012, when Boeing’s single-aisle airliners included the Boeing 717 and Boeing 757. In 2007, the Boeing 717 and Boeing 757 stopped production, and the 737 became the only aircraft type Boeing had to rival the A320. That year, a total of 330 737 aircraft were delivered, whilst deliveries of the A320 amounted to 367. Since then, both Boeing and Airbus have tried to improve their production speed. Currently, the speed of producing both the Boeing 737 and A320 has reached 42 units per month.
